Get Ready!

Get ready for the a.r.t.a.e. studio and gallery GRAND OPENING on Saturday, October 13th 7pm-11pm. Paintings, Furniture, Sculpture, and More by Aaron R. Thomas and Anne Ewen.

Anne Ewen doesn't believe that Art really exists in the object. Art is a moment of time and space that we encounter if we are lucky enough to meet up with it. Anne cares more about freedom than beauty. She believes that the highest value of Art is its ability to open up in a person an awareness of one's own freedom. Art can give one's senses a breath of fresh air. When we are in the presence of Art, We have a wake-up call . We ask ourselves, "What have I been doing with my senses that I forgot the wonder of them?". Anne tries to set up the right circumstances for encountering Art through her large paintings and drawings, monoprints, furniture design and assorted mixed media experiments.
The current work was created in a spirit of improvisation and day-dreaming free-association. Each piece is like a page of a sketchbook diary dream journal. Ewen hopes that the spontaneity and freedom of the imagery and the techniques promote in the viewer similar inclinations of following your bliss and allowing your thoughts.
